I live in a fairly large metro area, and I'm only a couple of miles away from three major interstates. So if someone needs to communicate between two points that are close enough, that's what I would recommend. It would, however, be useful for actual communications purposes over a few miles. But I have come to the conclusion that CB is about 99.999% dead around here. I do have a handheld CB around here, so one of these days, I'll test it with that. Also, when the band was open, I heard a couple of signals on, IIRC, channel 6.

I listened on my ham rig, and it was a net, that sounded slightly more professional than the average ham nets. I heard some SSB, which my AM rig won't decode. Toxic, Alpha, Apex, and Fabled dinos are math based, and are 3x, 5x. The bosses include Primal, Origin, and the Creator. Currently, you can tame Toxics, Alphas, Apex, Fabled, Omega, Buffoon, Celestial, Demonic, Elder, and Elemental.

I have heard a grand total of 2 other signals. This mod adds varying tameable tiers of dinos, as well as special boss dinos. In that time, my grand total for 11 meter QSOs stands at exactly zero.

They, of course, are cross-polarized with most signals, but they should get the strong signals.) (But I've also listened with my outdoor dipoles. I just have a vertical dipole inside the house at ground level. Remember all that stuff about when all else fails, etc. Even so I'd be very reluctant to be a party to this, so I'm not asking and I'd rather you didn't tell.Ĭlick to expand.A couple of months ago, I decided that if CB radios are for sale for about $35, I really ought to have that capability.

So long as the spirit of the law is maintained then I'm not going to get bent out of shape over it. The spirit of the law is to keep CB radio as a useful means of communications for personal and business use by unlicensed individuals. The letter of the law also says it's not illegal for a licensed Amateur to own a radio capable of transmitting on CB channels. The letter of the law says only certified equipment is to be used on CB channels. There's the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. They were relatively open about their use of CB channels with these radios, open enough that it came up in conversation with me. Perhaps not only to use CB channels but to get 60 meters. I've had a handful of licensed Amateurs tell me that they've opened up their mobile HF radios to operate on CB channels. Of course with a "little work" they can also transmit on CB channels. With most models under $250 they are not all that expensive, are capable of transmitting about 30 watts on 12 and 10 meters, and with SSB, AM, FM, or CW. I guess that plenty of them do end up opened up to transmit on CB channels but if there's truckers with Amateur radio licenses then I can see how these radios might be popular.

I'll update this thread after I get the radio back and discover what happened.Click to expand.Just for grins and giggles I thought I'd look into some of those radios named after presidents to see what the fuss was about them. Now, I'll think twice before looking at Ten Tec gear. We got started with a radio that isn't working and that's as good as getting off on the wrong foot. I'm just not interesting in spending my money anymore with them to find out that I got the bad apple. The bottom line is that it does end up leaving the user (me, in this case) with a bad feeling about Ten Tec's products.

If some people have great experiences and others bad, it's not just the builder. I only hope that they don't actually charge me for servicing a radio that I've never gotten to work correctly. Others seem to have similar problems to mine: regen touchy, bad J310 FETs, etc. I ended up sending the radio back to Ten-Tec to have them look at it.
